About Your Stay

Welcome and House Rules

Welcome to McMillan at Mt Hotham.  We are pleased to advise that Liz Hanger is returning as your live-in Manager for the 2024 Ski Season. Liz is here to help make your stay more enjoyable.  You will see her around the lodge (Liz is in Room 10 downstairs) or she can be contacted on the lodge number (5759 3513) or her mobile which will be displayed on the noticeboard upstairs.

McMillan is a club lodge and is shared by many people over the season.  Please be considerate of others to help make everyone’s stay an enjoyable one.  Members and Guests are expected to clean up after themselves during their stay. This includes washing and putting away dishes after use, wiping down cooktops, tables and benches, emptying rubbish bins, cleaning up any spills and leaving bathroom areas tidy after use.  At the end of your stay, you are required to clean your room prior to checkout, but there are no additional cleaning duties.

Following are some House Rules for the comfort and safety of all guests and members

Please DO:

  • Bring your own food and drinks.
  • On arrival make yourself known to the Manager and ensure you know your room allocation and food storage procedures.
  • Ensure your beds are made up with the linen provided.
  • Eat in the dining room only, not in your bedroom.
  • Wash and put away your dishes and utensils after your meal. Clean the cooking and preparation areas used.
  • Use the recycling service.  All recyclable glass, paper and plastic should be placed in the clear recycle bags provided. We also have an organic waste disposal service – please place all food scraps (including meat, bones and egg shells) into the green waste bins for composting.
  • Be safety conscious in and around the lodge, particularly when wearing ski boots or carrying your equipment.
  • Consider other guests when using the lodge – we want you to have fun but please keep other guests in mind when it’s getting late and you’re still partying or returning home from a night out. No loud noise or music in the lodge after 11pm or before 7am.

Please DO NOT:

  • Smoke in the lodge – this is prohibited by law. If you wish to smoke, please do so outside and dispose of the butts in the container provided.
  • Wear ski boots or outdoor shoes anywhere inside the lodge other than the ski / drying rooms.
  • Allow non-guests access to the lodge without permission from the Manager.
  • Share the door code or Wi-Fi password with non-guests.
  • Bring pets into the lodge – pets are not permitted at Mt Hotham unless a permit has been issued.

Please feel free to speak to Liz if you have any queries regarding these house rules or if you would like any information about Hotham in general.  We hope you enjoy your stay at McMillan.
